What is up with these ridiculous CAPTCHAs?!?!?!?

taxsoftware
Level 3

As silly as this sounds, we switching software after this tax season for a number of reasons but the #1 one is that we're losing HOURS of productivity to the impossible CAPTCHAs needed to log in to ProSeries after every break, start of every day, etc.  We have timed it.  Over 10 mins per professional per day - sometimes as much as 30 with multiple logins to get in!!!  There is no reason for this much security to log into a product that isn't even housed online.  This is all just the verification of the users license and it's RIDICULOUS!

CATPCHAS, programs crashing, long delays in bug fixes, and I won't even mention the long waits for phone support.  I don't think if Winston Churchill was running this place he could keep a straight face and say this is Intuit's finest hour.  As a side note, we certainly have a lot of room for improvement for next year.

Agreed, that is crazy!  I haven't seen one of those captcha screens since last year sometime....so weird how some people get plagued by them and others not at all.

We are getting them EVERY log in and then after 10 minutes (I'm not exaggerating, I timed it) trying to get to the next part of logging in it still sends a text code.  There's no need for that, truly there isn't.

Difficult!  Not only annoying - we can't determine the pictures for most of it

I thought the crashes were just us as we have a new server this year that I have been blaming.  We lost 3 whole DAYS of work just last week from a major crash and it took us 3 weeks to be able to print or generate a PDF from the program.  It's insane.  Last year was pretty bad but this year is ridiculous.  Even when you get the CAPTCHA *right* it makes you do it like 5 screens?  Twice today my login "timed out" while i was trying to do the blasted CAPTCHA.  Seems silly but with 15 pros X 10 mins a day  = LOTS of lost productivity and we don't have time for this!

They need to go.
It takes forever to login and the photos are so small and blurry.
I’ve been trying the voice captcha instead of photos and it’s quicker. But the phrases often make no sense so you need to listen five times...

Others have said if you X that capcha screen then log in again, it doesn't come back.

Do you have your browser set to delete history and cookies on exit?  that could be what's making the program not recognize your computer.

Sorry to bring this up, but I want to say thank you for sharing this information, it helped me. For about two days I couldn't log into the website properly, because the captcha kept popping up, and you know, I clicked on the right images, but it kept repeating. I was insanely nervous. My friend had the same problem, but he solved it in another way. He was advised to use web scraping  . Because he travels a lot and his IP address changes all the time. That's why the bot checks come up.
