Change of Address - Moved from one state to another

My client lived in Colorado for the entire year of 2020, but has recently moved to California in April 2021.  He needs to file a Colorado state return only for 2020, but do i put his current California address on the tax return?  I will also file IRS Form 8822 for him. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Where else would the Colorado Department of Revenue contact him if they had a question?

If he still has a safe and secure mailing address in Colorado, I would consider using it for 2020.  Otherwise he is likely to get a letter from California's Franchise Tax Board asking why he didn't file a California return for 2020.

Thanks for your reply.  I just needed confirmation of what I was thinking.  They have mail forwarding from Colorado to California.  I very much appreciate your time in responding.

Residential mail forwarding expires after six months -- it can be renewed for another six months.  I wouldn't rely on the Post Office following its own procedures, though.
