Claimed as another dependent of another person.

A taxpayer is filing single and he is 40 years old.

Why is ProSeries asking if he can be claimed as a dependent of another person?

He was getting a refund and now he owes over $4,000.00!

Is there a glitch in the system?

Thanks!

Is there a 1095-A with Advance Credit in column C?

Is the taxpayer's income over 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (Line 5 of Form 8962)?

That checkbox used to get me all the time!   Learned NEVER to tell the client a refund amount when they have a 1095A until I'm sure all pink errors are gone!

@Linda123  you may want to see if the client is eligible to make an IRA contribution, might bring his income down low enough to avoid paying back the APTC.
