Form 8962

Have any of you faced Alternate Calculation for Year of Marriage on Form 8962

If so and the wife has the 1095A.

In Part V Line A, under a. Alternative Family Size would you enter 1 to represent the male family head who did not have Market Place 1095A.

The issue is if Line A 1 is not entered it changes the outcome of the reduction of tax.

Thanks for your comments.

If I remember correctly, yes, and that the program will give you an error message until you fill it in.

Thanks ... It also negatively changes the tax outcome.

Just make sure you check the correct taxpayer/spouse on the 1095-A.

The last I checked, I think that ProSeries did the Alternative Calculation correctly.  But if you are questioning the accuracy of the program, then you might want to manually calculate it see if the program is doing it correctly.
