How to delete a form that was auto filled from prior year?

This is assuming youre using Professional...you neglected to include which version of PS youre using.

It must be one of those forms that has hanging information so it doesn't just disappear like allen was hoping.  Either that or allen just doesn't like any kind of birds.

You have 2 choices....enter the 2017 information on the state refund worksheet in the section titled   2017 Federal Form 1040 Information Smart Worksheet, that will compute if he got any tax benefit or not.
or
If youre sure he got no tax benefit, Use the button at the top the state refund worksheet to go to the carryover worksheet and just delete the state refund showing in there.

Thanks, I deleted the federal carryover WS. He only had 2 thousand of salary income in 2017.
