Restart amendment

I am amending a 2019, using the original file.  I started the 1040X process, but then made the changes BEFORE I went to the state and clicked on the state 1040X.  Now the state numbers all reflect the new changes.  Can I restart the process somehow?  I'm not sure overriding all the state numbers will pass review.

Best bet is to turn off the amendments on both the federal and state returns then reverse the changes back to their original values. Once completed, activate the amended forms for both the federal and state and then enter in the changes.

Just for reference, here is our Knowledge Article with the steps:

I suggest the following updates to your How To Amend:

1.  After you have made the copy of the original file, in Part VI, unclick filing electronically before you save.  This will clear up the EF Center.

2.  On the original return file, in Part VI, change PIN entered date to today's date.

Good call! I will have those changes made.
