eSignature When Spouse Has Died

KMACK

Can eSignature be used by the surviving spouse when filing a joint return and the other spouse is deceased?  There does not seem to be a way for just one spouse to sign the form 8879 and have "filing as surviving spouse" print on the deceased spouse's signature line.

So the primary taxpayer is deceased and you want to send esignature for just spouse but the program won't allow it?    Then I'd just have the surviving spouse esignature as Taxpayer.  As long as you have the signature does it really matter which line was signed. - I don't think so.
