If taxpayer's dependent student is in the 4th year of college why does the American Opportunity Credit not work when it was claimed for 3 years?

Student is dependent of taxpayer.  Tuition paid in box 1 of Form 1098-T is $ 30715.

Box 5 shows $ 2,500. Scholarship payment.

It should show the reason right on the Student Exp Worksheet.

Yeah, I think that is the most common reason why the American Opportunity Credit is disallowed.   :smile::smile:
