IP PIN

Is there only one place to enter the IP PIN on the federal worksheet whether issued to victims of actual identity theft or thru the voluntary opt in program of the IRS? I filed a return with an IP PIN issued thru the voluntary opt in but it was rejected because it did not match the e-file database.

You need the one that was issued in January 2022. Do you have the letter?

I did not get a letter (that CP 01A) but I printed and kept a copy of the message I got when I applied for the IP PIN  on line. It says there to enter that number when I file my return electronically. In retrospect, I should have not opted into the program.

The message I printed when I applied online says "Congratulations, your identity protection PIN for 2021 is ...... I did not get a CP01A in 2022 confirming that number. I have reviewed the entry several times and tried to e file again but got rejected again.
