I am preparing a NJ Partnership Return as a non-paid preparer. How do I get the software to populate the preparer info from the Firm/Preparer Info?

Preparer info is not a requirement on the Fed return for a non-paid preparer but seemingly is a requirement on the NJ return.   I cannot get the software to populate this info and the software will not allow me to input the info manually.

As a tax professional, you should be signing your name to any return you prepare, whether youre paid or not.

I just opened a dummy return and put in the XNP code for non paid preparer, and then opened an NJ return, I dont see any errors related to the preparer information, is the program that's telling you its required?

If it makes you feel better, charge them $1 and write it off… it’s not worth fighting with the software….

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround
