I just filed a student's tax return but forgot to check off that this student is being claimed on the parents' tax return. My fault!!!

Now the parents' tax return just got rejected for that reason. what's the best way to handle?

Thanks in advance.

No quick way to fix it.   Amend the child's return and paper file the parents, (Id include the notation on the 8948 in the Other section what happened and that the child's return has been amended).

I think we've all probably done it (or almost done it) at least once.  Thats the first box I mark on any kid return now!

Lisa's right. When I determine that the child is claimed (or not claimed) by the parent then I put the flow chart copies in both of their files or notes in both of their files so that way I don't forget it.
