Should I do something for the 2019 return if the client changed his legal name during the year

Should I do something for the 2019 return if the client changed his legal name during the year, and notified SSA of the name change.
the return was e-file using his new name, but the e-file was rejected.
the detail of the rejection says " Error Message: Submission must not be a duplicate of a previously accepted submission.

Solution: Return must not be a duplicate of a previously accepted return.

Code: R0000-194

but the return is for 2019, not a duplicate of previously accepted return.

Hello JD6!

That message indicates the return has already been filed. Do you know if they used the "Non-Filers" tool to register for an Economic Impact Payment. If so, they will need to paper file an Amended EIP Return.
