Recently identified, eOrganizer users have found that specific input items selected in Screen 1, Client Information, were reverted to their default option when filing returns. This has since been corrected in the program (available for download April 6, Version 42.0406).

Please verify you are working on the most current version of Lacerte, and review your client files for these specific items:

Arkansas

  • Taxpayer Deaf?
  • Spouse Deaf?

California

  • RDP Filing Status
  • PMB # in Address?

Delaware, New Hampshire, & Oregon

  • Taxpayer Disabled?
  • Spouse Disabled?

Hawaii

  • TP Deaf or Disabled?
  • SP Deaf or Disabled?
  • TP-Food/Excise and Low Income Household Cr. Qual
  • SP-Food/Excise and Low Income Household Cr. Qual
  • TP-Claim $1 General Tax Credit
  • SP-Claim $1 General Tax Credit

New York

  • NYC/Yonkers Resident
  • Maintained living quarters in NYC

Ohio

  • Taxpayer Retired?

Follow these steps to enhance your ability to identify client files that utilized eOrganizers:

  1. Select the Settings dropdown menu in Lacerte
  2. Click Options
  3. Select the Display tab
  4. In the Available column, expand the ‘miscellaneous’ option
  5. Double-click both the E-Organizer Sent and E-Organizer Received to send them to the Display column.
  6. Move your items up and down in the Display column, to sort as needed
  7. Click OK to save these changes

If you find during your review that you have a return that is missing one of the items listed and it has already been filed and accepted, you may need to file an amendment:

Important! If you import an eOrganizer, or re-import an eOrganizer after this update, these fields will initially revert the first time you go to Forms.  Make sure to switch it back to the correct selection, and it will remain.

We are working on a fix to prevent this behavior.
