2020 Program Error X:\LACERTE\20TAX\SDATA\DATA1S20.DBF, Error Code: -70

This error can occur intermittently and will cause the Lacerte client display columns to change or reset. 

To verify whether or not you're receiving this error, review the Technical Support Information by;

  1. Click F10 or select Troubleshoot from the Help dropdown menu.
  2. Select the Errors tab for review.

Error Message:
Unable to check encryption mode of database. Path: X:\LACERTE\20TAX\SDATA\DATA1S20.DBF, Error Code: -70

Symptoms:

  • Display Columns Resetting
  • Errors saving data
  • Database Errors
  • Client List shows the same client

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please refer to this article - Solution 3. These steps should be performed by an IT professional, Lacerte support will not be able to help you make these changes.

Summary:
Background refresh of Group Policy has been reported to temporarily disconnect a Group Policy defined drive when the Action is set to "Replace". We recommend changing this from Replace, to Update.
