Hello all,
I have several clients that received Form 8986 (Partner's Share of Adjustments..) for several years related to the same partnership. The 8986s were a result of an AAR, not an audit). I prepared Form 8978 (Partner's Additional Reporting Year Tax). The form has to be prepared manually because it is not supported by Lacerte. I figured out where in Lacerte to put the reporting year tax (Screen 45.3) Other Taxes.
Critical Lacerte Diagnostic 53567 is generated and says that the return has to be paper filed because Lacerte doesn't support the 8978 in individual tax.
Is there a work around for this so that the return can be e-filed? Will attaching the 8978 as a PDF and overriding the diagnostic do the trick? Has anyone done this successfully? I have 16 of these.
