Where would a designer that sells nationwide record floor samples? She doesn't want to depreciate them. couldn't they just sit in Inventory undepreciated? She wanted to avoid depreciating them, but it doesn't seem they necessarily become worthless over time.

Inventory is never depreciated. But yes putting them in inventory and deducting the cost as they are sold is proper.
