Depletion prompt on Federal Final Review

roniswindell

Please put the prompt for depletion back on the Federal Final Review.  That has caused me so much aggravation on the 2022 returns because, after having depended on this prompt for so many years, I would mistakenly print returns without calculating depletion.

Why would you remove items from the Federal Final Review without finding out if it was something your customers really found helpful, and without notifying everyone?

I already have something that does that.  I think it's called a synapse between two neurons in my brain.  But maybe there were complaints from the many users who do not qualify for depletion and were annoyed with being asked.  If you can't remember to check for depletion whenever you see royalty income, maybe try the "two-year comparison" feature.  I think it works on Schedule E alone.  You might also be missing those production taxes and other items shown on the 1099-MISC or separate statement.
