    Taxable Social Security

    What is the definition of "taxable social security benefits" as referenced in IRS Publication 501?  I'm trying to determine if I have to count Social Security income in the dependent's income test, if all they have is Social Security, and it is not taxable.

    The amount in the 1040 box 6b.  Sounds like that's $0.
