How do I report a decedent's social security income when the SSA-1099 reports all income received including the amount received after DOD?

SSA-1099 reports all social security income to the decedent's SSN. The last payment was received after DOD.

How do I report the allocation between the decedent and the F1041?

Thanks.

SSA-1099 income doesn't go on a 1041. It needs to be returned.

SSA should have asked for the funds back that were paid after DOD and the SSA-1099 would reflect actual monies paid.

Great!

The taxpayer said they received a check from the SSA after DOD. However, if that was payment for the month before DOD then would that make sense that the SSA didn't ask for the money to be paid back?

Thanks for your help.
