Numbers over a Billion

fastfile
Level 2

Does anyone have any idea if I can even USE Pro-Series to handle numbers more than a BILLION?

I have a (Real) client that has over a billion in stock transactions in 2019. I'm not going to enter them manually, but the 8949 A  is a 10-figure number.

Will Lacerte handle numbers this big?  Obviously somebody has this problem licked.

TIA

Can you break it down into a few blocks, each less than a billion?

Or does ProSeries just choke if anything on the return exceeds a billion?

Yes, I have the program.

Yes, I can break it into 2 chunks, but the totals all end up as 999,999,999

The math stops working!

I was hoping someone knew either a work-around or if Lacerte can handle this file?

No work around, the program just doesnt handle that many digits....I dont know about Lacerte, sorry.

Im guessing you need whatever program the tax preparers for billionaires use...whatever that may be.

UltraTax would be the next step up I think, or CCH ProFx

is it possible to enter the data in such a way as to just show the profit/loss on schedule d input and then use my favorite form (8275 disclosure) to explain what you are doing?

I would just fill out schedule D manually and attach it as a pdf with an explanation
