Hi all, I just want to see if any NY preparers can confirm this for me. Is this considered a pension of nys and local governments to be considered non taxable? New York City District Council of Carpenters (NYCDCC Pension fund)
I called the state and after 30 minutes on hold they asked me if it was a NYC or NYS or local govt pension? I said that is why I am calling you. response you can check our website - not helpful.
I called the pension directly and was told we only hold federal taxes. So from that answer am I to infer it is non-taxable to NY?
Client is under 59 1/2 so would not qualify for the NYS $20K pension exclusion
thanks for the help
Not a NY preparer, but this after googling your question. , the monthly pension payments you receive from the Plan are taxable. Link: https://nyccbf.org/member/pension/#:~:text=Yes.,from%20the%20Plan%20are%20taxable.
