i'm receiving 'file write eror' when transferring file

how do i fix this?

The first step is to always try rebooting your computer.  If that doesn't work, the next step is to swear at your computer.  If that doesn't help, then you need to analyze things a little more.  Is it a problem with one file or a bunch of files.  If one file, I would open up the prior year file, nose around in it a little and then save the file and try transferring again.  If that doesn't work, you just might have a corrupt file, so it's time to swear at your computer again.  You could try copying to the client file to a new file in last year's program and then try to transfer the new file.  If that doesn't work, you should swear at your computer one more time and then swear at Intuit for good measure.  You could then try calling support or if it isn't a complex return, lick your wounds and start it from scratch in the new year.
