could anyone give me the correct steps on how to amend tax year 2018

Print a pdf or paper copy of the original return. Then go to the 1040X and put in the explanation why it is being amended to activate the form. Go to the state if applicable and do the same. Once both forms are activated, make your changes and print the 1040X along with any applicable forms that have changed.
