Form 5695 Was the roof credit extended or eliminated? Still finding conflicting information

Good afternoon online community,

We are getting close and I still find conflicting information about the metal and asphalt roof credit. The IRS form 5695 does not seem to have for 2023 but there are plenty of articles that say it was extended. Due to conflicting information out there, I will trust our top solvers for this one. My experience tells me to trust them more than many "experts"

I would like to take this opportunity to thank once again our top solvers who have been helping people over the years. I always says there is not better learning experience that this accountant online community. Good luck everybody, have a great weekend. Saludos from NJ>

When all else fails - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/i5695--dft.pdf

But take it with a small grain of rice, since they are still in draft form. Look at the 3rd page

What articles are you seeing that says it was extended?

Have you read the links to the actual law that I gave you on one of your previous posts?

If the form isn't show it, why are you still questioning it?

Thanks George, that came out recently. Last time I checked, it was not there. But thanks anyway.

That first link you gave is FILLED with A LOT of horribly outdated information.  If you read that entire article, it would be extremely clear that is not a reliable source.

The second two links are also horribly untrustworthy.  They both use the same 'source', they call it the "Metal Roof Tax Credit" (it has NEVER been called that) and all of the links point to that FIRST link that you gave (which as I said before, has obviously grossly outdated information).

Now that you started this same issue with 5 separate topics, perhaps you could simply update one and stop starting them fresh, so that all the info is in one place and makes a good resource for others with the same question?

That's quite a trail. You're asking the same people every time. And the forms are not yet finalized, so it helps to take a breath and wait for things to be updated in preparation for the tax filing season.
