Can 2017 Proconnect online tax returns be converted to Proseries for 2018 tax prep?

prior year is 2017 prepared using ProConnect Online

current year is 2018 Proseries Professional and Basic for 1040's.

I used proconnect one year out of the last 12 using Proseries, and learned that I prefer Proseries; so I have switched back.

It is possible, as confirmed by Intuit (unofficially), but it must be done offline by Intuit.  Also, the conversion must first be to Lacerte, which you then use to export the data for conversion to PS.  This means you'd need at least a REP subscription to Lacerte just to do that.

Intuit suggests doing the conversion manually if the volume is low because the offline process is very time consuming but we're waiting for a confirmation of what that manual process entail.

No - there is no going back when you go to Pro Tax Online

As Obi Wan points out it can be done.  But I think  you need a DeLorean and a jigawatt of power or something like that, so it is close to impossible but not impossible.

The door says to Alice, why nothing is impossible, it's just impassible.

Does Alice know Jenny?  I've been meaning to call her but I can't seem to remember her number.

Why not call her to find out. Let me check my trusted pocket-size paper phone directory. I have that written down in pencil... ah, here you go. It's 867-5309.

Thank you all for that very detailed and entertaining answer!  As you will see, I've posted a new question which obviously relates to the last question I asked.  I know this because it sent me to my last question and said the answers to it were the RECOMMENDED answers for the current question!  So, I figured it might help if I posted the question to IRonMan, itonewbie and Ernie, since I'm sure you can all answer this one for me as well!

HERE IT IS:

I had ProConnectOnline in 2017, then ProSeries in 2018, have decided I'd prefer to use ProConnect again in 2019. How do I convert my 2018 info or do I need to?
All my 2017 clients are showing up in the 2019 listing for creating new returns for but I'm just thinking it would be easier for me if the info in Proseries (2018) were converted to ProConnect Online because the skipping of the 2018 year will inevitably leave out major changes in business client reporting such as depreciation or sales of rental real estate, etc...

JUST REALIZED itonewbie has already given me an answer before I even posted this question to the 3 of you!  So, itonewbie, Thank you for being the champion you claim to be!

Can't claim to be a champion. Hope my 2-cents are worth at least that much.:smile:
