Can I make an entry directly on Form 1, Line 24z?

I'd use 8z for the adjustment, so the 1099MISC income will show, then right below it the adjustment would wash it out.

what is it you want to put in there? 

Theres a smart worksheet above that section for lots of items that belong on Line 24, but some things can go on line 8z as an adjustment instead.

Thank you, Lisa!  I have used 8z for Form 1099K, but this is a strange situation. It's a 1099-MISC, for paid medical leave, paid to the employee instead of the employer. So, the employee paid back the employer and got stuck with the 1099. I can't see a claim of rights deduction working, and an itemized deduction will not work either.
