You could order a transcript to get the wages and federal withholding amount to file the return with....it wont have state withholding though.

In California Ive called into their practitioner service with a federal transcript in hand and theyve given me the state withholding amounts.

So which was the typo, 2016 or 2017?

Ordering a transcript for 2016 is probably not going to get what you need before the statute expires.  Have you tried asking the employer?
