On a form 1041 for a Grantor Trust, where do you show that the tax withheld on form 1099-R passes through to the Trustee?

My client has a grantor trust and received 1099-Rs that show that federal tax was withheld.  Where do I show that the tax was passed through to the trustee to show on her 1040?

Is it revokable or irrevocable, or intentionally defected irrevocable ?

@Terry53029 Does it matter?

I would attach the 1099-R to the grantor letter.

Does the 1099 have her SSN or (probably not necessary) a trust EIN ?

You are going to have a lot of trouble with it. Most Grantor Trusts do NOT report any income on the trust itself, and withholdings cannot be passed through to beneficiaries(like the Grantor).

I'm still fighting over a 2016 trust and withholdings from the 1099-R.

Best of luck.
