Is there a way to see the full version of the efiled return even if you never locked the return?

Sure! Look at the pdf that you create of the return before it is e-fled (or immediately afterwards.) Use the one you gave the client when you gave them the 8879 to sign.

That pdf is crucial to your record keeping, since ProConnect has at least once complete deleted all the files.

Or you can get a copy of return transcript from the IRS, but I found that the transcript is a summarized version of the tax return, the IRS must have a full version some where but we do not have access to. Also it does not have the state info.
