2555 Housing Exclusion

Level 1

Overseas Taxpayer earns 149,450 of which housing paid by employer and included in taxable income is 11,440.    Under Housing exclusion I input; Qualified Housing expense of $11,440, Location.

Taxpayer is a BFR with all travel data inputted:  Total Comp is 149,450 (includes housing furnished by employer of 11,440).

Taxpayer used full income exclusion of $112, 000 so they are eligible for housing exclusion, but Pro Tax Connect does not calculate it/allow the housing exclusion.

Screen in Pro Tax Connect

Housing Exclusion or Deduction input

Qualified Housing expenses - $11,440

Location - Marseille

Limit on housing expenses "blank"

Employer provided amount Adjust "blank"

I am hoping someone has been successful to get this to calculate.  Or let me know what I am doing wrong.

Thank you.

I know I must be missing something I need to check etc.

Please help.

Look at the housing exclusion section of the form and the instructions. Your client has already maxed out their exclusion.
