If the user takes the trouble to segregate the income to each spouse, Lacerte should be warning us that married filing separately might be a wiser option. That would just take an instant of the computer’s time, since tax calculation is the reason the software exists.

Intuit programmers deserve the best salaries and benefits in the industry. Features like this are expensive.  Make it available for an additional cost to preparers who want to fund it.  Or give them an estimate and let them buy it with a GoFundMe account.
