IRS discontinued installment agreement

The IRS stopped my client's payment plan because he filed his 2022 1040 and the tax liability changed.  They didn't notify him.  Seems like they would want to keep the plan going while seeking a new agreement from the taxpayer.

You need to request a new plan for all liabilities. It's not automatic.

They cancelled the old one bc he violated the part about keeping current with all other filings and liabilities.

I had hoped for a notice.

I don't like installment and payment agreement work for clients.

They are supposed to send  a cancellation notice with a reason.

The client can request the payment plan themselves online at irs.gov
