DocuSign - ProConnect Tax

Ferg
Level 2

I am having problems getting DocuSign signatures back for both the Taxpayer and Spouse for joint tax returns.  The DocuSign process needs to completely REDONE.  Not a good idea to send the 8879 Fed and State forms to the TaxPayer & Spouse for signature.  The forms are confusing at best for taxpayers.  The second box to be checked by the Spouse gives confusing instructions, particularly to elderly taxpayers that may not be as computer literate in our digital world.  Most tax payers have no idea what a PIN or ERO are.

So here is a suggestion.  When the DocuSign request is sent to the taxpayers' email address(es), simply show two boxes to check.  The first for the Tax Payer and the second for the Spouse (if a joint return is to be filed or if MFS).  Then follow with a SEND button.  This should come back to the Tax Preparer at ProConnect Tax and attach the signatures to the Fed and State 8879 forms.  Much simpler and much less confusing to the taxpayers.

Have you considered signatures through Adobe Acrobat?

Nearly 1/2 of my clients have had problems with DocuSign. In the latest case, the taxpayer's name wasn't correct.  This product is not as good as it should be.
