The California SOS number must be 12 numeric digits when e-filing. Please enter a valid SOS number in screen 1. If your SOS number is only ten digits add two zeroes to the beginning of the number or the input should be left blank.
Solution:
California uses two numbers, a 7-digit California Corporate Number (sometimes referred to as a SOS File Number) and a 10 or 12 digit Partnership/LLC Secretary of State Filing Number. Corporations and S-Corporations should leave the Sec of State File # field blank unless it is a partnership electing to be treated as a corporation.
