2024 Final 1040

I have a taxpayer who died in January 2024. We filed the 2023 return but need to file a final return from Jan 1, 2024 through the date of death. I included the DOD in the client info section and added the executor contact info.

Is there anywhere in the input where I need to designate it is a short year return for the 2024 tax year?

For 1040s, you just show the date of death.

It is understood that you are only reporting information for 1/1/24 - date of death.

You need to wait until next year to file a 2024 return.  But, was there enough income earned in a few days or weeks in January to require a return to be filed?
