SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated November 21, 2023

When you have problems licensing ProSeries Professional, ProSeries Basic or Document Management Systems (DMS) you may need to repair or install the Intuit Entitlement Client.

Before you start:

  • This article references default installation paths and uses YY to reference the tax year in 20YY format. C: will always indicate the local drive and X: will always indicate the network drive.

If you're using ProSeries:

  1. Close ProSeries.
  2. Open the Windows Explorer.
  3. Browse to the msiupdates folder:
    • For ProSeries Professional the default folder location is C:\ProWinYY\msiupdates
    • For ProSeries Basic the default folder location is C:\BasWinYY\msiupdates
  4. Double-click EntlClnt.msi to run the entitlement client setup wizard.
  5. If the entitlement client is already installed, the setup will have an option to repair or
    remove:
    1. Select Repair EntlClnt.
    2. Select Finish.
    3. When the repair is complete, select Close.
  6. If the entitlement client isn't installed, the Welcome to the EntlClnt Setup window will appear.
    1. Select Next.
    2. Select Next.
    3. Select Next.
    4. When the installation is complete, select Close.
  7. Open ProSeries
  8. From the Tools menu, select License Products.
  9. ProSeries should license without errors.

If you're using DMS:

  1. Open the Windows Explorer.
  2. Browse to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\DMS\Support folder.
    • If you are using DMS 2007-2011 instead of opening the Support folder click here to download the ECSetup.exe file for those years.
  3. Double-click on ECSetup.exe to run the entitlement client setup wizard.
  4. If the entitlement client is already installed, the setup will have an option to repair or remove:
    1. Select Repair EntlClnt.
    2. Select Finish.
    3. When the repair is complete, select Close.
  5. If the entitlement client isn't installed, the Welcome to the EntlClnt Setup window will appear.
    1. Select Next.
    2. Select Next.
    3. Select Next.
    4. When the installation is complete, select Close.
  6. Open DMS.
  7. From the Tools menu, select Update License information.
  8. Make sure the Customer Number and Zip Code are correct.
