Checking the status of an electronically filed return or update acknowledgments

Available electronic filing acknowledgements are download into ProSeries automatically when transmitting electronic returns. Once your electronic filing slows or your last returns are filed electronically, you may need to retrieve your electronic filing statuses and acknowledgements manually.

A variety of options exist for manually retrieving acknowledgments in ProSeries.

To manually check for acknowledgments:

  1. Go to the EF Center HomeBase View, or the EF Clients tab in ProSeries Basic.
  2. Click the E-file menu and select Check EF & Pay-by-Refund Acknowledgments.

  2. Click the E-file menu
  3. Choose Electronic Filing.
  4. Select Receive Acknowledgment Statuses.
  1. Go to the EF Center HomeBase View, or the EF Clients tab in ProSeries Basic.
  2. Click the EF Status button on the ProSeries Toolbar.

In some cases, it may be necessary to force or request an update of the latest EF Status for a return.

  1. Go to the EF Center HomeBase View, or the EF Clients tab in ProSeries Basic.
  2. Highlight the returns that remain outstanding.
  3. Click the E-file menu and select Electronic Filing.
  4. Click Update Acknowledgement Status of Selected Returns.
  5. When prompted by a dialog box, you may choose to update only the selected return or all pending returns and extensions.
  6. Click OK to retrieve the latest available status of your outstanding returns.

You may also click the Update EF Status link in the Next Step column to request the latest e-File status for a return.
