ProSeries 2018 print crashing or errors

We are aware of an issue involving systems crashing or shutting down when trying to print.

Some of the errors you may be experiencing include:

  • ProSeries closing on printing with no error message
  • "Process Terminated_ Unable to Load PSEFAK.DLL"
  • Small empty rectangle in print preview
  • Error 10250 when printing
  • “can not convert empty PrintListML” message
  • Crash in “Choose items to print”

In order to determine how best to troubleshoot your printing issues, first identify which version of Windows your machine is running. To identify your current Windows version, follow the steps outlined by Microsoft here.

Click on the version of Windows you're using to view steps to resolve the errors.

  •  We recommend you only install the 1040 or 1040NR formset at one time.
  • Limit the total number of installed formsets to 100 or fewer.
  • Print items to PDF, rather than your printer. If the file looks correct when opened in Adobe Reader, then ProSeries is working as expected and the issue is most likely with your printer. Consult your local IT professional for further troubleshooting.
  • Verify your anti-virus or encryption software is not interfering with ProSeries. See Configuring anti-virus software for details.
  • Make sure your printer meets the System Requirements for 2018 ProSeries.
  • Update your Windows operating system to the latest version.
