When you send a Link invitation, Lacerte checks to see if a client with the same SSN already exists in Link. If a client with the same SSN does exist in Link, the Lacerte program then compares the client's email address that exist in Lacerte and Link. If the Link client has a different email address than the Lacerte client, you'll receive an error message stating "The primary taxpayer SSN is already used by the firm. Please enter a unique SSN and try again."
To resolve this error:
- Sign in to Intuit Link.
- Find the client you're trying to invite.
- Click on the client's name, then select Edit.
- Change the email address to match the client's email address in Lacerte.
- Then reinvite the client to Link from the Lacerte program.
