I believe this might be the first step in Lacerte requiring to use (and pay for) their cloud services in the future and to gain rights to what we do with our client's information if in their software.  I have various hard drive directories for each year for different things, workups, amendments, etc... I also live overseas (except for tax season) where backups from the office client repository prior to exiting the US is crucial.  To be quite frank, there seems to be a lot of extra services Lacerte is trying to push that our little 2 preparer, 1400 client tax business just have no use for.  I wonder if I need to start looking over their disclosures to see what rights they have to our clients information if we have our clients in their software 😉
