For those of you that are having difficulty downloading 2020 ProSeries software, make sure your Windows 10 version is 20H2.  Make sure you have the latest C++ version installed as well.   Must be at least 2015-2019.  Locate it as C++ redistributable pack.  Intuit has not informed it's tech support of these easy fixes.  You also should not have to uninstall your virus protection.

So how do you tell what version of Win10 you have?

Level 3

Hi Lisa,

Go to the Windows icon on bottom of left of monitor. Go to the wheel that is the Settings and click on that.

Click on System, scroll down to About.  System Specifications will show the Version.

You NEED version 20H2

Hmmm, Im not using 20H2 and ProSeries 2020 installed fine for me

It sounded like a good plan, but it doesn't hold water.  Mine downloaded just fine without that version too.

Level 3

I'm happy for you ironman.  But that's how it worked for me, so it did hold water.  And if your 2020 downloaded "Just Fine", why are you wasting my time replying to a post for people that ARE having problems.  SERIOUSLY Dude???

Level 15

To point out that there are other system configurations that work?

"why are you wasting my time replying"

Trust me, I won't make that mistake again.

@Orlando  can you help Marsha?

Level 3

Hi Marsha, try going into your control panel a going to add/remove apps or apps & features.  scroll down to Microsoft visual C++ and see what you have downloaded.  You need at least 2015-2019.  If not, it's a free download from Microsoft.  Hope it works for you.  Intuit tech support are selling us the package, they should be trained to better assist us in downloading their own product.  Good luck Marsha!!

Let me know how you make out Marsha

Makes sense now @Just-Lisa-Now- !!

Intuit Alumni

Thanks @Just-Lisa-Now- . @Marsha2020  - sorry to hear your having issues. I've run into a few specific different issues.

First question: can you access this link in your browser on your machine? https://ftpfp.proseries.com/pub/proseries/2020/LICENSE.HTM

This should just display our license agreement.  For a few customers, we've seen that their router or firewall has decided to block anything from proseries.com.  That prevents "download next year's product", that prevents updating, that prevents login calls.

If that link works in your browser, then we have to dig into what you mean by "can't launch 2020 or get into 2019".  Are they both exhibiting the same behavior? Or different behavior? And specifically, what is happening? For example are you getting to the login screen and it's blank or you can't type in it? If so that's an issue with the embedded Chromium browser we're using & intel iRIS xe graphics cards.  Alternatively if you're getting a "bad request" message that might be an issue with the region setting.

If it's none of the above or If you are launching the products and nothing at all happens.. that might be a new issue we need to figure out.  If you go to your installation directory there is a 32bit/logs directory. In there can you find the proseries.txt file and email to proseries_engineering@intuit.com?

Level 4

Hi.  Yes, I can display the license agreement.  I ran the 2019 update repair like someone suggested and I can now get into 2019.  I only have 2020 update, and repair updates. I have tried the 2020 repair updates a few times and nothing changes.   My IT expert son has said that the protax exe file is missing and the app isn't able to launch.  I don't have an app to log into to set up for the year even though it says I've installed 2020.  Hope this makes sense.    Advice?

Every time I try to use my program and update I get a virus warning.

I took screen shots. I am very unhappy about this !

Cheri, can you insert a screen shot here?   Click the little camera button above the comment box.

What virus program do you use?  I've noticed Avast flags a lot of things. There's a ton of vendors out there and they do whatever they want to do.. the best we can do is try to work with them to get whitelisted. Some are easier than others to reach.

I have 20H2 and am having issues with Lacerte 2020 and 2019 since 2/3/2021!  1.5 hr wait times when calling support only to go through the same processes and then told my case has been escalated and someone will call me back but they don't know when????  I am so frustrated!
