Changing Fonts and Colors

Can I change the fonts and colors used in the Lacerte Tax program?

Solution Description

Some fonts and screen colors used in Lacerte may be changed without affecting other programs or the Windows desktop. The font style, size or colors may be customized to make it easier to read the client list or data entry screens.

Notes:
  • The font size used in Watermarks when printing to PDF cannot be changed.
  • The font size and colors used on Forms cannot be changed. The only change you can make to Forms font is Mixed Case and Upper Case.
  • The font and size used anywhere other than the client list or the detail tab cannot be changed.
  • Some Windows settings may affect program fonts, but usually in a detrimental way. See Fonts Appear Incorrect or Small in Lacerte Tax.

To change the Fonts and Colors in Lacerte:

  1. Click the Settings.
  2. Click on Options.
  3. Select the Fonts & Colors tab.

Changes made in the Client List section will affect the appearance of the Clients tab.

  • To change the font style, click the down-arrow in the Font: field and then select the desired font.
  • To change the font size, click the down-arrow in the Size: field and then select the font size.
  • Click the Alternate Line Shading button to change the color of every other client in the Clients tab. Select a color from the Color grid and then click OK.

Changes made in the Interactive Input section will affect the appearance of the Detail tab.

  • To change the font style, click the down-arrow in the Font: field and then select the desired font.
  • To change the font size, click the down-arrow in the Size: field and then select the font size.
  • Click the Highlight Color button to change the color used to highlight active input fields.  Select a color from the Color grid and then click OK.
  • Click the User Entered Data Color button to change the color for entered data.  Select a color from the Color grid and then click OK.
  • Click the Imported Data Color button to change the color for information imported.  Select a color from the Color grid and then click OK.
  • Clear the Use Imported Data Color check box to use the same color for both information entered and information imported.
NOTE: Lacerte recommends using different colors to distinguish between the information entered and information imported.

Changes made in the Batch Input section will affect the appearance of the Detail tab.

  • To change the font style, click the down-arrow in the Font: field and then select the desired font.
  • To change the font size, click the down-arrow in the Size: field and then select the font size.

Note: To restore the fonts and colors to the program defaults, click the Defaults button at the bottom of the dialog box and then click Yes in the Confirm window that appears stating Reset the defaults for the current tab?.
