I have client's that are divorced and the male takes the child on the even years and his X-wife takes the child on the odd years. On the odd years I have to delete the dependent from the male's return and then when he can claim the child I have to re-enter the child's name, social, and DOB.
I believe it would be easier if Proseries would have a box to check for all the dependents the tax payer can take that particular year. This would save having to delete and retype each year.
Do you all agree?
Thanks.

As a work-round for SOME situations ... if the taxpayer does NOT qualify for EIC (with the child), just change the dependent code to "Q".

Actually, I just looked at it. Change the dependent code to "Q" and mark the EIC code to "Non-qualifying person".
