ProSeries is allowing an Iowa deduction for General Sales Tax from Federal Form 1040 Schedule A line 5a incorrectly.  The deduction on Iowa Schedule A is only allowed if the taxpayer(s) itemized and claimed the General Sales Tax on their Federal return.  ProSeries is allowing it on the Iowa Schedule A even for taxpayer(s) who took the standard deduction.  I would think the software developers could program it to only allow if it was used on the Federal return.
