I didn't realize that ProSeries has the ability to prepare and file 1099s. Are you using Quick Employer Forms (QEF)?

Yes, we just added that as a service. Trying to figure out if transmittal forms are needed or produced by QEF automatically.

Ive never used it but my assumption would be that it files the 1096 and 1099s electronically with the IRS, looking at an FAQ online for QEF, you need to print and mail the forms to the recipients yourself.

This FAQ is for TurboTax but they use the same QEF as ProSeries.

ProSeries does not file 1099's. You need a separate program to prepare and efile 1099's and the 1096.
