Ive never seen the message "awaiting acknowledgement" anywhere before.  

Are you really using ProSeries Professional like your post shows? or some other tax program?  If so, try highlighting the file in the EFCenter and then use Update Acks of Selected Returns, see if that will pull the ack in.
