Are you trying to transfer 2018 Turddotaxx to 2019 ProSeries?  If so, that's your problem - you need to transfer from the same year (2019 TT to 2019 PS or 2018TT  to 2018PS).

If you have the correct years, try rebooting your computer.

My accountant is having this issue with my TurboTax Online file downloaded .tax2019.  They have verified they use the correct year and their office reboots their computers on a nightly basis.  Intuit tech support has been no help for me so turning to the community.

The only other bit of info I have is that the accountant said the last time she experienced this error is because the user password protected the file.  I did not password protect the file and my accountant even downloaded the file herself from TurboTax Online (she had my login credentials) and got the same error.

I am not using the free version of TurboTax Online but the paid version.  I have no clue what is going wrong and neither does my accountant.  Any advice?

Hi there,

I spoke to account support and found a solution to this issue. (George, he's awesome!)

First you need to open your Turbo Tax 19 returns and remove the passwords from each return.

Then rename and save the Turbo Tax 19 return files using the same format that Pro Series uses.  Last four letters of last name with last four digits of the client SS# (ex.  LOMB6969 ).  Save to your desktop or drive.

Close Turbo Tax 2019 completely.

NOTE :  You may need to update permissions on the TT19 files to transfer (read and write)

Open Pro Series

At Homebase go to 'File'

Then Transfer and 'Transfer Clients'

Pick '2019 Turbo Tax 1040 to 2019 Pro Series 1040' from dropdown Menu

Pick where you saved your TT19 files (Desktop or Disk location)

Try to transfer all.

If you get the permission's error after transfer you need to start a new file in Pro Series for that client.  Just add name and email address so it shows up on your homepage.

Click open the client you just created on Pro Series.

Go to File, then Transfer Client and you should see this box open up

Hit OK and it should populate the client in PS.  Make sure you save each client after doing this each time.

Hope this helps!
