So I'm working out of the office and the last couple of days, my cell phone rings about 4 different times with the same number showing up.  Out of curiosity, when it rings a fifth time I decide to answer it, and it's a good thing I did.  It's the Social Security Administration calling me to tell me that I'm apparently in big trouble because my Social Security number is going to be blocked.  I get nervous and figure I better get this straightened out so I click number 1 on my phone as instructed.  I'm lucky enough to get a SSA agent to answer right away to help me with my problem.  He tells me his name is Rick Johnson.  I'm thinking it's my lucky day because with a name like that he must have Minnesota ties.  He does have an odd accent though, kinda like someone from India or thereabout so I'm thinking he must be from southern Minnesota.  Anyway Rick asks for my name so I don't hesitate and tell him that he is talking to Fred Flinstone.  He asks me to spell it so that he gets it right and I don't want him to mess things up so I spell it for him.  Then he asks for my Social Security number and birthdate.  Because Rick is such a nice guy I don't hesitate to tell him 666-XX-XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX (sorry I can't disclose the full number and date ------ I would hate to have some unsavory character get ahold of that information).  Rick tells me that sorry, that the Social Security number is invalid and asks to have me repeat it.  I tell him the number again and he says it is invalid.  I explain to Rick that something is obviously wrong with his computer.  He again says that it is an invalid number.  I once again tell him that there is something wrong with his computer and I need to talk to his supervisor.  Then for some odd reason, Rick hangs up on me.  I tried calling the number back, but I just get a recording saying that I have reached the Social Security Administration and I should be aware of a scam that some folks are spoofing the Social Security Administration's phone number and I need to be aware of the scam.  I sure hope Rick is aware of the fact scammers are out there and he doesn't give out my personal information to someone by accident.
