It's not only the clients that drive you crazy, try the financial advisors.  I had a couple of clients tell me that their financial advisor said "There could be a corrected 1099 coming so you might want to wait until April to file your return".  Ok, and I'm going to tell the clients wait until April 18th before your make your IRA contribution with that financial advisor just to make sure we have everything right before we turn over that check. 

Or today's message that was left for me.  Mom died in early 2022.  Daughter calls and says that she knows I told her that mom wouldn't need to file this year but the financial advisor said that we would want to file to close her mom's account out.  Say what?  Mom hasn't filed a 1040 in close to 10 years.  The only thing she has filed during the last ten years is the Minnesota property tax and renters credit return.  Do you really think we need to file?  Is the IRS waiting to hear from her after all of these years?
