of course looking at prior year is one way and I read there may be or already is a query for this but another way I discovered.. when rolling over a return from 2020 to 2021, Form 8915-E populates in the 2021 return, yes 8915-E which of course that is not the right form but at least you get an error about that form and can continue with your workaround if you go that route, and deleting the 8915-E from 2021.
